Voting Rights Tour

I was born March 28, 1965 in Knoxville, TN. So I was not yet born during the height of the Voting Rights Campaign here in Selma, Alabama. I have lived here in Selma for over 20 years and have spent that time trying to understand this place and her role in our nation's history. Let me show you the sacred ground of the Voting Rights Campaign. We will start out by visiting the Jackson Foundation and Museum which is the private home of the Jackson Family who welcomed Martin Luther King, Jr to live with them while he planned and implemented the Voting Rights Campaign. You will see the room and the phone where he and LBJ talked for hours, as well as the dining room table where he and Ralph Bunche, 2 out of the 3 African American Nobel Peace Prize Winners, sat and talked. Next we will go to Brown Chapel where you can sit in the pews where the mass meetings occurred and hear from one of the foot soldiers what it was like to live through this time. We will visit museums and then end with you getting to walk the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

Duration: 3 hour driving tour (approx.)

1-5 people: $650.00

(each additional guest is $150.00 per person)
